LABOR ECONOMICS BULLETIN BOARD
SOLE mourns the death of Fellow George Johnson.
Statement of Linda L. Tesar, Chair, Department of Economics, University of Michigan:
With sadness I share the following news:George Johnson passed away last night in Washington DC. George had struggled with cancer and recently entered hospice care. George was a dear colleague to many of us and was a member of this department for over 35 years. He made numerous important contributions to the field of labor economics. He was also a beloved teacher and advisor, and was well-known for his warmth and sense of humor. George's family is planning a memorial service to be held at a later date in Ann Arbor. I will send further information as it becomes available.With deepest sympathies for George's family, his colleagues, and his friends.
Note: the Department of Economics Memorial will take place on Monday April 19, 3-5 pm.
